Announcing Edmonton’s Premier

Volunteer Management Certificate Program 2013

Presented by Volunteer Edmonton, Developed and Facilitated by Milena Santoro, CMM CMP PIDP

Overview: Volunteer managers often wear many hats. The responsibility for volunteer management may be assigned to staff members whose primary function lies elsewhere e.g., administrative assistant, fund development or human resources. Volunteer management can be a crucial element for the success of the 8,000 nonprofit organizations in Edmonton Region, half of which are run entirely by volunteers. Many organizations could not function without the contributions made by their dedicated, generous volunteers.

Outcomes: The Volunteer Management Certificate (VMC) will provide participants with the knowledge, tools and networking opportunities to align their work with the strategic mission and values of their organization.  This in turn strengthens capacity within the organization and the nonprofit sector to fulfill their mission.

Curriculum: The VMC curriculum is based on current internationally accepted core competencies and a body of knowledge which serves as a foundation. This certificate program is a step in the right direction for individuals who may seek to achieve industry designations such as CAVR – Canadian Administrators of Volunteer Resources.

The VMC offers professional development for individuals developing a career in the volunteer sector as well as those who have been active in the sector for years and who wish to refresh their skill set or learn new skills.

Developed and Facilitated by Milena Santoro, CMM CMP PIDP – author, international professional speaker, educator, award winning certified meeting and special events professional who has earned many accolades managing events for corporations, international associations, social clients and not-for-profit agencies.  Milena is President and CEO of MS Productions Inc. She is an active member of the volunteer community, serving in various leadership roles: facilitator for the Alberta Culture Board Development Program, President of Volunteer Management Group Edmonton Chapter and Committee, Professional Development for CAVR.
